Singapore, JULY 22 – NTUC Social Enterprises has released the short film ‘Because You Matter’, which was produced by entertainment platform Viddsee and directed by Singaporean Ng Yang Meng to promote its benefits for the Merdeka and Pioneer Generations.

Launched on July 1, the five-minute short film revolves around Jane, a busy 28-year-old workaholic daughter who realises that in her personal pursuits, she may have neglected her father and seeks to reconnect with him over dinner.

The short film is made for general Singaporean audiences, and marketed actively to a younger, more tech-savvy generation, based on the insight that they are more likely to chance upon and educate their parents about deals and benefits curated for them. They are also more likely to bring their parents to supermarkets such as NTUC FairPrice and eateries like NTUC Foodfare and Kopitiam, which were featured in the short film, to enjoy the MG&PG goodies by NTUC Social Enterprises.

“Brand values expressed through quality storytelling is what drives great brand marketing. Viddsee leveraged on its audience insights and network of storytellers to engage with the younger generation, reminding them to keep the parent’s connection alive, while informing them of the benefits offered to the Merdeka and Pioneer Generations,” said Kenny Tan, Head of Viddsee Studios.

The short film is an anchor of the MG&PG Goodies campaign, which provides 14 special deals -- in areas of dining, groceries, finance, healthcare, education, and family -- specially curated for MG & PG members. The film is promoted through a variety of channels including NTUC Social Enterprise’s YouTube channel and Facebook page and is being amplified through Viddsee’s channels, which includes, Facebook and YouTube pages.

The film is directed by Singaporean filmmaker Ng Yang Meng, an NTU graduate whose two films, ‘Kidnap’ and ‘Timekeeper’ has been on Viddsee’s platform since 2016.

“Ng is a young filmmaker who excels in telling heartfelt, authentic, and emotionally engaging stories. As an online entertainment platform that empowers storytellers, being able to connect brands and talented filmmakers like him not only raises the filmmaker’s level of craft and credibility, but also showcases the importance of having the right storyteller who embraces the brand’s values and message,” added Kenny.

This is NTUC Social Enterprises’ first collaboration with Viddsee.
