Singapore, 14 November 2019 – Video entertainment platform for short premium content, Viddsee, launches the first of two new social documentaries today, showcasing the stories of unassuming individuals doing extraordinary work. The documentaries, which focus on social enterprises Homage and I’m Soul Inc., were motivated by the ongoing conversations amongst the members of the Viddsee community sharing stories of selfless individuals following the launch of DBS Sparks Season Two.
Said Viddsee co-founder Derek Tan: “Highlighting stories that need to be told is what motivates us as storytellers. When we saw the stories that shared about everyday people who have been working tirelessly to create a better, more inclusive community, we knew we had to delve deeper on how we can recognise their efforts.”
“In documenting the stories of Homage and I’m Soul Inc, two enterprises supported by DBS Foundation, the filmmaker Eileen Chong was careful to maintain a rustic and authentic feel to the videos’ treatment, focusing on how the individuals and their organisations have touched the lives of those in need,” he added.
Launched today, the first documentary focuses on Homage, a social enterprise app that provides expert, affordable and personalised home care and therapy for elderly with a wide range of conditions such as dementia and Parkinson’s. Through the use of technology, founder Gillian Tee aims to transform the lives of the elderly and elevate the traditional care delivery experience, which has largely remained the same for the last 50 years.
The second documentary, launching on 30 November, features I’m Soul Inc., which believes that everybody should be able to enjoy the experience of creating music. The social enterprise breaks barriers by using highly engaging programmes and innovative technology that transforms any movement into music, enabling everyone, including Persons with Special Needs (PWSN) and the elderly, to create music.
“We hope that these two documentaries will be the catalyst for more insightful conversations on our platform, and through them, discover more inspiring stories that we can continue to share,” added Tan.
